WesternBright NC transfer membranes 0.22μm - pre-cut & roll – Witec AG

Art No | Westernbright-NC-membranes-22um
from 140.00 CHF

The WesternBright nitrocellulose membranes are pure nitrocellulose media that has high binding capacity for proteins.

Description

Advansta offers a large selection of nitrocellulose and polyvinylidene difluoride (PVDF) transfer membranes for immunoblotting applications. All membranes are optimized for compatibility with a wide range of protein stains and enzyme-based detection systems, specifically with chemiluminescent substrates.

The WesternBright nitrocellulose membranes are pure nitrocellulose media that has high binding capacity for proteins. These nitrocellulose membranes are stronger and more durable than other nitrocellulose membranes, and will not rip, tear, or crack during transfers. The nature of this material yields sharper images with little or no distortion.

  • Pore Size: 0.22μm
  • Thickness: 150μm
  • Binding Interaction: Hydrophobic, electrostatic
  • Typical Protein Binding Capacity: 200 μg/cm2
  • Detection Methods: Chemiluminescence, direct staining, radiolabeling & colorimetric
  • Immobilization Methods: Electrophoretic transfer of proteins, protein dot & slot blotting
  • Recommended Applications: Western transfer with chemiluminescent detection, Colony/plaque lifts
  • Availables as: pre-cut membranes: 6x8.5cm, 8x10cm or roll 30x300cm

Which Membrane is right for you?

Nitrocellulose

  • Traditional
  • Less expensive
  • Binding capacity: 80-100ug/cm2
  • Easily wetted prior to setting up the transfer
  • Lower background
  • Easy to block
  • Use with chicken antibodies
  • Comes in two pore sizes: 0.45um for proteins >20kDa & 0.2um for smaller proteins
  • Very fragile
  • Autofluorescent – cannot be used with fluorescent Westerns
  • Not compatible with SDS

PVDF

  • Binding capacity: 150 to 160ug/cm2
  • More expensive than nitrocellulose
  • Very resilient to mechanical and chemical damage
  • Compatible with fluorescent Westerns
  • Compatible with SDS-containing buffers
  • Requires activation step by wetting in methanol
