Meet OpenSPR, the easy benchtop surface plasmon resonance system.
Avoid costly & inconvenient SPR core facilities with this affordable benchtop SPR instrument and get complete in-depth label-free binding kinetics & affinity data in your own lab, within 1 hour!
OpenSPR is the world’s only benchtop surface plasmon resonance (SPR) instrument. It provides high quality, label-free interaction analysis for a fraction of the cost of existing solutions. The unique nano-structured sensor surface uses localized SPR (LSPR) to deliver repeatable, highly sensitive kinetic data.
Flexible system with high accuracy and quality kinetics
The OpenSPR can be used for a wide variety of applications, from yes/no binding assays to complete kinetic/affinity characterization and many more.
Due to a wide range of affordable sensor chips, you can customize this benchtop SPR system to your needs.
It is compatible with a wide range of sample types and you need only 150 μL to get that repeatable, highly sensitive kinetic data. Accuracy and quality kinetics are comparable to standard SPR systems.

Localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR)
The OpenSPR System is a compact benchtop system that uses localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR).
LSPR is generated by gold or silver nanoparticles, as compared to a continuous film of gold used in traditional SPR. Due to this, LSPR measures small changes in the wavelength of the absorbance position, rather than the angle as in SPR. Due to this smaller sensing volume, LSPR is more sensitive to molecular binding and less sensitive to bulk effects. In addition, it reduces artifacts caused by external variables such as temperature drift or buffer refractive index changes.
Moreover, LSPR is much less complex since no prism is needed, leaving you with a smaller and more affordable SPR system.
OpenSPR for Biotechnology
Get started on your experiments in a matter of hours.
OpenSPR is user-friendly and has versatile applicability. In smaller companies, the OpenSPR allows researchers to finish off their full experimental workflows at a low cost. In larger companies, the OpenSPR is easily integrated alongside their other assays.
OpenSPR is ideal for:
- Lead Optimization
- Quality control
- Drug discovery
- Validation
OpenSPR for Academia
Our mission is to improve human life by helping scientists succeed.
By using innovative nanotechnology, we reduce the cost and complexity of SPR instrumentation and make it accessible to every researcher. Having OpenSPR in your own lab will eliminate the expensive costs and inconvenient travelling associated with using a shared instrument in a core facility.
OpenSPR is helping over 600 researchers publish in high-impact journals worldwide. Read the full list of publications.
